The kite flyer

For a long time flying kites never caught my attention or roused even slight interest. Until one day I saw this simple yellow colored kite that had no extra fixtures or attachments. The plainness on the outside made me feel comfortable and convinced to handle it.

Though there was a lot of excitement looking forward to the flying exercise, I, at first didn’t realize the amount of effort that goes into giving a take off for the kite. Puffing and panting I still remember running around in circles, squares and all possible shapes trying to give it a momentum. In spite of all the trials it seemed that the kite finally went up only when it decided to anchor itself in the sky. I saw it slowly rising like a man made sun, only in a different shape.

Right from the beginning I was clear that my motor skills had nothing to do with the flying. The winds were in favor keeping the kite in action. I was more of an audience watching, either the smooth sail or the turbulence when there seemed to be varying plan of action between the wind and the kite.

The end of string that I held in my hand was more to maintain connection with the kite rather than a restrain. At some point of time when the string broke I felt a little disappointed. I saw the kite drifting far away beneath the white clouds and then out of sight.
Even if it was a just a brief encounter, it somehow was a sure shot experience.
