To The Finish
With no strain
Ears picked up eagerly
The sound of the shoes scraping against the sand
Seemed perfect did they
'coz it brought a smile on my lips
As I diverted myself
To also enjoy the coolness I was running in.
Through the extensive trees
Rays of hope stretched
Struggling to touch my skin
Which with pride I asked to wait
Availing the forest as my sunscreen.
Then the search began
For the distance yet to be covered
Only when I heard no drumbeats
And the lethargy settled in,
Also when I heard the drumbeats
In expectation if I have closed in.
It felt a lot simple
And also a little complicated
As I told others it's simple
And made it look so too
In turn reminding myself
That it's almost done.
I wish I had thanked the trees
That generously shaded me all the way
They helped me finish
And finish right!
